World Down Syndrome Day (WDSD) is an annual global awareness day on March 21 that has been officially observed by the United Nations since 2012. The Down Syndrome Association of Pittsburgh invites you to CELEBRATE and DANCE on Sunday, March 20 beginning at 4PM. DJ Eric is back to play your favorite tunes while you "Rock Your Socks" with our virtual dance! We will also have the virtual photo booth going too that we will be showcasing photos throughout the dance! Also, stay on the Zoom for the "After Party" where you will hear from local self advocate, Davis Mowry where he will be sharing his story about being a young adult right here in Pittsburgh! Register here.

Writing PromptIn celebration of our new program, First Call (New/Expectant Parent Mentoring) launching & World Down Syndrome Day (WDSD), we are asking our community to write letters to new parents. Focus on the new parent and meet them where they might be. They might not be ready to think too far into the future. Think about how you felt during those early days. Let’s wrap those families up in love and support. We will share these letters via social media and our website all throughout March and leading up to WDSD. We'd love to hear from both moms and dads. If you are more comfortable being anonymous, we don’t need to share your name. Just let us know. Send all submissions to shannon@dsapgh.org. Feel free to include a photo of you and your child during those early days. If your letter is chosen to share, we will let you know. |
