We are thrilled to continue our virtual SPEAKER SERIES. This program is intended to educate, inform and in some cases, entertain our community. Individual sign ups are listed for each event. All events are FREE and open to ALL. We appreciate your continued feedback and insight in regards to the strengths and opportunities of our local Down syndrome community. DSAP Speaker Series:
Encouraging Literacy for All with Kayla Pavlock, M.S., CCC-SLP - 2/7 at 7pm
(DSAP) has partnered with Therapy Works, LLC to provide a virtual Speaker Series: Encouraging Literacy and Language for All. Join us on 2/7 at 7pm for to discuss how to promote literacy development for individuals of all ages! Our speaker, Kayla Pavlock, M.S., CCC-SLP, brings a unique insight to reading acquisition through a language-based lens. She is a speech-language pathologist who is currently pursuing an additional Master's degree in reading and literacy with a reading specialist certification. Attendees will build their toolkit of specific strategies they can utilize to make reading fun and functional at home, school, and socially! RSVP here. Planning for College on with Amy Guthrie and Nancy Murray - 2/23 at 7pm (DSAP) has partnered with Achieva to provide a virtual Speaker Series: Planning for College. In this session on 2/23 at 7pm, Amy Guthrie (Disability Advocate and Family Supports at Achieva) and Nancy Murray (Senior Vice President of Achieva and President of The Arc of Greater Pittsburgh) will discuss inclusive college programs for students with intellectual disabilities, along with available resources to help plan and pay for college.
